This Is Our Story
Mt Lyford Adventure Park & Lake Stella Mountain Retreat operate on a private mountain park spanning over the 3 mountains Lyford, Terako & Tinline in the Amuri Ranges, North Canterbury. The property is owned and operated on by the Simpson Family who founded the area and who also operate the Ski Area in the Terako Basin.
âWe offer self-guided mountain access from the mountain access gate in summer, transport up the mountain for mountain biking, hiking, skiing or skating, on mountain accommodation with huts and their own wood fired bath tubs all year round, Dark Sky Mountain Tours on request, a Private Ski Hiking Area over 2 Basins in Winter, Ice Skating on Lake Stella or our ice skating rink and snowshoe & pole hire to hike Stella Basin in Winter.
âA mountain access pass must be obtained per person to enter the Mt. Lyford Adventure Park Area and we can cater to most groups or individuals.
âWe have 27km of trails and roads to hike and bike on the mountain with breath taking views in all directions and a vertical drop of 1332m Peak to Pub.
âWe can also arrange access for 4wds and some 2wds to come up for tours or easier walking hiking and biking access in summer when mountain access passes are purchased.
